My personal experience of counselling changed my life in ways I hadn’t anticipated when I attended
my first session as sleep deprived, anxious new mum who didn’t feel like anyone understood the
way I was thinking and feeling.
If I’m honest, I remember thinking, ‘What good is talking going to do?
It won’t change anything.’ But I was wrong. Talking changed everything. Of course, it didn’t change
the circumstances or the situation. It changed my thought patterns, enhanced my understanding of
myself, shifted my perspective and my expectations of myself. The result was a huge shift in how I
approached the same situation with a very different outlook and I can honestly say I’ve never looked
back.
That experience prompted my own ambition to want to be able to provide that same support to
others. Now a qualified BACP registered counsellor, I have trained in several counselling modalities
to ensure that I’m able to tailor our work together to your individual needs and goals.
Whether you’re coming with a specific short-term goal or looking for a deeper exploration of your
experiences, I can support you to develop greater self-awareness and self-understanding. I see you
as the expert in your own life, so I favour a collaborative approach, ensuring you feel comfortable
and in control of the direction of our work.
Part of my role is to gently reflect back patterns or connections that you may not have noticed yourself, offering a different perspective to help you explore your experiences and make meaningful progress.
Supporting Parents of Neurodivergent Children
As a parent navigating life with a high-masking ADHD child and the assessment and diagnostic
process, I have a personal understanding of the pressures that can come with parenting a
neurodivergent child. From balancing home life and work, to understanding your child’s needs and
navigating school support, there can be a lot to hold.
Having supported many parents in similar situations over the years, I have developed a real passion
for this work. I understand how much love, thought and effort goes into supporting your child, and I
offer a space where you can feel heard, understood and supported too.
