Hello 👋🏼

Hi I’m Andrea and below is a little about me and how I work!

As a late diagnosed autistic person I can truly see where therapy has been unhelpful, difficult and potentially damaging for me in the past.

My diagnosis has spurred me on further as a counsellor, to ensure I am providing neuro-affirming practice and to explore in therapy; coping mechanisms, stimming, communication styles, routines and individual struggles which may present in day-to-day life.

I have always been really interested in mental health and understanding how the brain works, which has naturally helped me to understand people deeper and support them on their therapeutic journey. I originally trained from a person-centred base but have since trained in CBT and solution-focused therapy, though I ultimately believe in integrative practice and not one size fits all.

I feel working with people in therapy is truly an honour and I believe strongly in creating a safe and accepting environment for clients to explore their experiences. I feel therapy is such a personal experience and I’m a big believer in individualising this process to support you.

I recognise I give a lot of myself to my clients and to providing therapy, therefore my leisure activities typically including anything cosy or recharging; reading, mindfulness, running, yoga, walking in nature and spending time with my two dogs and loved ones.
