I am relational, caring, curious, and compassionate. With nearly 20 years’ experience in schools and education, I’ve witnessed firsthand the challenges that young people face within structures that prioritise neurotypical ways of being and so often get it wrong. As the mum of a neurodivergent teen, the battle to have needs met has been both a personal and professional pursuit.
I bring a wealth of experience as a counsellor. I completed my studies in 2022 and have worked for a mental health charity in Harrogate, before beginning private work and supporting university students as an autism support tutor, a specialist mental health worker, and a mentor. I enjoy the dynamics of working with young people and adults as they make sense of their experiences and have a place to feel truly heard and validated. It is a privilege to support people to grow in self-awareness and self-acceptance.
In our work together we might explore relationships, anxieties, sensory and bodily responses, trauma, and the scripts we learned about what it means to be “enough.” Through a safe and collaborative therapeutic relationship, we can create space for empowerment by noticing strengths, rediscovering joy, connecting with personal values and passions, and finding a renewed sense of self-worth.
When I’m not in the therapy space you’ll find me replenishing my energy levels by reading, retreating into calm and quiet, walking my gorgeous dog Bear, or planning my next adventure.
